🚨 IMPORTANT: Meningitis B Update & Routine Vaccinations 🚨

With recent reports of invasive meningococcal disease (Meningitis) in the news, we want to ensure our Leckhampton families stay informed and protected.

🛡️ Our Community is Protected

We are proud to have a >90% vaccine uptake in Leckhampton. This means the vast majority of our children and teenagers are fully protected, and we are closely monitoring those who are due for their next dose.

📬 Check Your Post

If your child or teenager is due for any routine vaccinations, you will have received a letter from Public Health. If you have received a letter, please book your appointment as soon as possible.

💉 Information on Meningitis B (MenB)

Following the recent outbreak news, we have received many questions regarding MenB:

• The Routine Schedule: The MenB vaccine was introduced in September 2015 for infants.

• Catch-up Programmes: There was no national catch-up programme for older children.

• Private Options: If your child fell outside the age bracket, the vaccine can be sourced privately.

• Supply Warning: Please be aware that private stocks are depleting rapidly nationwide.

• Students or staff from other Canterbury universities who were advised to take preventative antibiotics due to close contact.

• Anyone who attended Club Chemistry in Canterbury between 5 March and 16 March 2026.

• Sixth form students from Kent schools who have been specifically notified by their school or the UKHSA.
