Enhanced Access Hours

We offer a number of appointments outside normal opening hours;

  • 07:30-08:00 Monday-Friday
  • 18:30-20:00 Wednesday
  • 18:30-20:00 every fifth Friday
  • 09:00 to 13:00 every fifth Saturday morning of each month. These appointments are for routine matters only.

Please note that because there is no hospital laboratory collection service during these enhanced access hours, the doctors are unable to take blood samples/swabs during these appointments. They are happy to see patients for any routine matters but if any of these tests are required, you will need a follow-up appointment with a nurse or phlebotomist during our normal working hours between 08:30 and 17:30.

Reception Opening Hours

The reception desk is open from 08:30-13:00 and 14:00-17:30 Monday to Friday.

Between 13:00 and 14:00 and 17:30-18:30 our telephone lines will be diverted for emergencies only and we would ask that if you have an enquiry or need an appointment you phone outside of these times.

We are available between the hours of 08:30 and 18:30 daily Monday to Friday should you need us please do not hesitate to call.

Closures for Training

To maintain our high standards of care we close 1 afternoon a month for staff training and development. These closures are normally between 12:30 and 17:00 . We aim to publicise these dates in advance on our website and the surgery reception area.

Should you need urgent medical attention when we are closed during this time, please telephone the normal surgery on: 01242 539080 which will give you the option to be connected to an expert messaging company who will ensure any urgent matters are prioritised accordingly.

When We Are Closed/Out of Hours Service

If you require urgent medical assistance, which cannot wait, outside of usual opening hours, please call NHS111. Calls to the NHS 111 service are free from both landlines and mobiles.

Your needs will be assessed and advice offered or arrangements made for you to see a clinician.

Out of hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a clinician and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
